It may seem like a small thing, but the right handlebar position makes a huge difference – for comfort, control, and engagement. Here’s what to look for:

Height – The handlebar should feel natural. I personally like the top of the handlebar to be about chin level. Others like it a little lower or higher – but if it feels weird, something is wrong.

Angle – This is important. The rig should allow you to adjust the angle. If the handlebars are completely flat and you’re sitting straight, your wrists will start to hurt after a while. Angle yourself slightly so your arms and wrists rest naturally.

If you sit in a more laid-back, “formula” style position, then a straighter handlebar will work better.

Distance – Quick test: Stretch your arms forward, but don’t keep your shoulders tense. Your wrists should naturally fall on the top of the handlebars – this is your starting point. From there, adjust closer or further away until you find the most comfortable position for longer sessions.

The most important thing is that you should be able to ride for hours without discomfort. If something doesn’t feel right, it is.
